Description: The purpose of this database is to provide a spatial and tabular representation of wetlands across the County for planning and regulatory decision support. County staff has been updating original wetland boundary delineations as well as wetland characteristics based on a number of data gathering methods, field surveys, photo-interpretation, topographic base map interpretation, engineering staff estimations of land cover at specific locations, permit reviews, and other forms of information gathering (e.g. GPS for boundary delineations). The Wetlands Dataset is for planning purposes only. The data is based on the best information presently available to the County. Therefore, the data contained may be subject to alteration and modification based on new or different information and, or, changing conditions. The County, therefore, makes no guaranty, warranty, promise, or assurances as to the accuracy thereof. Wetlands identified are not all inclusive. The absence or presence of jurisdictional wetlands can only be determined by an on-site investigation conducted in accordance with the current Federal wetland determination methodology. Absence or presence of critical wetland status can only be determined by an investigation conducted in accordance with current local and federal methodology. The County assumes no liability for possible consistency errors. Supplemental_Information: Compiled: (April 1999). Original wetland delineations were based on 1980 high altitude aerial photo interpretation done by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Conservation (now IDNR). The compilation map scale for this work was 1:24,000. Wetlands data sources include: NWI, SCS, Wetlands compiled from 1:1200 scale aerial photography 1991-2, DuPage County Forest Pr. wetlands data, DEC wetlands specialists\engineers field investigations & surveys.
